Manchester United’s front three was one of the most ineffective in the Premier League last season, contributing to the club’s worst goal tally in decades.

In response, the club jumped on the opportunity to sign Matheus Cunha early this summer and could sign Bryan Mbeumo within the next week. At striker, a move for Viktor Gyokeres is gaining traction, with the clinical Swede open to playing under Amorim again at United.

Gyokeres, Mbeumo, and Cunha could provide a dynamic, high-intensity edge that United has been lacking in recent years. Each forward brings a unique profile that, when combined, forms a trio capable of unsettling even the most organized Premier League defenses.

Gyokeres is the ideal focal point—powerful, a relentless presser, and clinical in front of goal. His ability to lead the line, hold play up, and bully defenders would provide a central threat the Reds have been missing. He scored 49 goals at Sporting last season in all competitions, five more than United as a team in the Premier League.

Adding Mbeumo and Cunha brings both pace and versatility to the attack. Mbeumo thrives on the right, cutting inside with his left foot, and is one of the Premier League’s most underrated attackers in terms of movement and work rate. He presses intelligently, tracks back, and consistently creates chances with his sharp runs and crossing ability. On the left, Cunha brings creativity and flair. He’s comfortable drifting into central areas, linking play, and driving at defenders, allowing the front three to interchange fluidly and confuse opposition defenses.

Most importantly, all three are willing runners, making them ideal fits for Ruben Amorim’s high-intensity, vertical style of play. Gyokeres flourished under Amorim at Sporting, and adding Mbeumo’s and Cunha’s Premier League experience and off-ball intelligence would make this front line devastating in transition and adaptable in possession.

Together, Gyokeres, Mbeumo, and Cunha could give United a mix of power, pace, and unpredictability, which is exactly what the club needs to reestablish itself as a top attacking force in Europe.
