Manchester United’s summer is shaping up to be busy, with rumors swirling and departures imminent. Improvements are a requirement after a pitiful campaign that saw the Reds finish 15th in the Premier League and miss out on Europe entirely.
Ruben Amorim has preferred signings, and below we dive into what a dream Manchester United lineup would look like for the 2025/2026 season.
Confirmed Deals
Matheus Cunha has been confirmed as Manchester United’s first summer signing after completing a £62.5 million move from Wolves. The Brazilian international is a dynamic attacker and will fill a starting attacking midfield position next season.
Possible and Dream Signings
Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly chosen Manchester United over Tottenham and Arsenal. The 25-year-old was clinical in front of goal at Bournemouth this season, scoring 20 times. A fee of £50 million should be enough to secure his services.
At striker, Viktor Gyokeres is Ruben Amorim’s top target. The Sporting star has scored 68 goals in the Portuguese top division since joining the Leões. The Swedish international is being pursued by other top European clubs, making a deal for United difficult without European football to offer.
In the midfield, Ederson has long been admired by United officials and is a top target for a box-to-box role in Amorim’s midfield. Once the attack is settled, a move for the Brazilian could be on the cards.
Andre Onana has struggled to meet expectations at Manchester United and is widely expected to depart the club this summer. United are actively exploring replacement options, with Champions League winner Gianluigi Donnarumma emerging as a potential target. While securing the Italian international would be challenging, the move remains within the realm of possibility. Other names under consideration include Zion Suzuki and Marc-André ter Stegen, though the club is keeping a wide net and evaluating several alternatives.
Current Players
This summer, Manchester United’s transfer focus is expected to center on strengthening the attack and goalkeeping positions, which could see the starting defense remain largely unchanged. Lisandro Martínez is set to return from injury, while Leny Yoro has emerged as a rising star with significant potential. Harry Maguire, having worked his way back into the starting lineup, could complete the back three.
With the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo would move back into a right-wing-back spot, where he starred in limited appearances in Amorim’s first season. Bruno Fernandes occupies a midfield spot, while Patrick Dorgu is United’s left-wing-back of the future.
