Manchester United have already added one Premier League star to their attack for next season, and another could follow quickly. After landing Matheus Cunha, positive conversations with Bryan Mbeumo’s camp have boosted United’s pursuit of the Brentford player.

Manchester United are aiming to revamp an attack that scored a measly 44 goals in the league last season, the 5th worst tally in the Premier League. Rasmus Hojlund, along with several other underperforming forwards, is expected to depart Old Trafford to make room for proven goalscorers.

In addition to a new No. 9, Amorim is targeting multiple players who can operate in the No. 10 roles. Matheus Cunha, who United have secured for £62.5 million, is a game-changer, but adding Bryan Mbeumo could elevate the attack to another level.

According to the Muppetiers, United’s efforts to land Mbeumo have progressed positively.

“It’s progressing, it’s not going backwards, we’re not being rejected and it hasn’t been killed.”

Despite interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United, “things are shifting more towards United’s direction” and “there is more positivity on the feeling that talks are going well.”

Mbeumo scored 20 league goals in the 2024/2025 season, 12 more than United’s joint top scorers, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo. In 242 appearances since joining Brentford, the Cameroonian attacker has scored 70 times and assisted another 51 goals.

Transfermarkt values the 25-year-old at €55 million, meaning any club that signs Mbeumo must be ready to spend a hefty amount to secure his services.
