Bruno Fernandes has concrete interest in joining Al-Hilal, while Ruben Amorim claims the United skipper “wants” to stay in Manchester.

According to BBC, “Bruno Fernandes is giving serious consideration to quitting Manchester United next week and taking up a lucrative offer to join Saudi Pro-League club Al-Hilal.” Manchester United are intrigued by the amount, potentially £80 million, that Al Hilal is offering for the Portuguese star.

Fernandes has once again proven to be Manchester United’s standout performer this season. He claimed his fourth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award after an impressive campaign, contributing 19 goals and 17 assists across all competitions. In addition, he earned the Players’ Player of the Year honor for the first time, underscoring not just his influence on the pitch but also the respect he commands in the dressing room as a leader.

The 30-year-old signed a new contract in August that could keep him at Old Trafford until 2028. The offer from Al Hilal would run the same length but pay him more than double his current United wage.

Al Hilal aims to sign the United captain ahead of the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14 in the United States. The timeframe provided by the Saudi club leaves both the player and the club with limited time to make the decision on Bruno’s future.

A statement from Ruben Amorim, who wants to keep the player, said, “Of course I talk to him, I explain things and I just have that feeling. When you talk to someone you have that feeling if he wants to stay.

The feeling I get every time I speak with him is that he wants to continue for sure with Man United. You never know.”

If Bruno wants to stay, the club should reject the offer and focus on revamping the squad around him, not without him. He is the kind of player United needs to get back to prominence, the type that can lead the Reds back to European competition and into the Premier League title conversation.

While the additional funds would aid in squad rebuilding, club officials should prioritize offloading players who no longer fit into Amorim’s plans—namely Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund. Moving on from these surplus players could generate significant funds to invest in higher-quality reinforcements.

Bruno Fernandes is a world-class player, and Manchester United needs his quality to push for Europe next season.
