After rejecting a new contract at Arsenal, Ayden Heaven is set to move to Manchester United. The young center-back will undergo a medical ahead of finalizing a move to Old Trafford, according to Fabrizio Romano.

At 18, Heaven has already made his first team debut in the Carabao Cup and has also featured in three Premier League matchday squads.

As a left-footed defender, the England youth international is seen as an option to back up Lisandro Martinez, though it is unclear whether he will start with the academy or move straight into the first team. According to Academy Scoop on X, “Heaven is considered a first-team signing, and will provide competition/cover for Lisandro Martinez.”

Heaven described his playing style as ‘physical’ when asked on the Arsenal Academy X page in 2024. He is a quick and strong defender who is capable of playing out from the back. Although he can also play as a left-back, the arrival of Patrick Dorgu is likely to keep the 18-year-old in a central position.

Manchester United has developed a tendency to attract top academy talent from Arsenal, with Chido Obi-Martin making the switch during the summer transfer window. Obi-Martin has made a strong impression in United’s academy, highlighted by a hat-trick in just 14 minutes during his debut.
