Manchester United’s striking struggles are one of many reasons that the Reds sit 13th in the league in January. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have combined for just five Premier League goals through the first twenty matches of the season. Given this glaring issue, United are prioritizing a loan option for another attacker this month.

The top striker target for the club is Randal Kolo Muani. According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are “determined to do everything possible to secure his transfer this month.” The 26-year-old can serve as the main striker or is also capable of playing in one of Amorim’s two attacking midfield roles.

Since transferring to PSG in 2023, Kolo Muani has faced challenges with both his form and playing time. This season, he has participated in only 24% of the available minutes for the club, contributing two goals and one assist across fourteen appearances.

Before his €77 million move to Paris, Kolo Muani was a star in the Bundesliga. In his only full season with Eintracht Frankfurt, the French striker scored 23 goals in all competitions and was the top scorer in the DFB-Pokal.

United are not the only ones after his signature. Plettenberg states that Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Tottenham are three other Premier League teams that are interested, while clubs in Germany and Spain could also get involved.

Manchester United needs to shake up the attack this month. With limited funds available, a loan option for a player like Randal Kolo Muani could be the perfect move to help salvage this season.
