Manchester United will not renew Christian Eriksen’s contract, and the 32-year-old will leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires in June. This decision was confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano in a report with GIVEMESPORT.
“Manchester United have already decided internally that his contract will not be extended and that the Danish midfielder will leave on a free transfer in the summer – only a good proposal could change the story and see him leave in January.
“Real Betis were keen on signing Eriksen at the end of the summer window, but they were not able to agree on terms on both club and player side,” Romano stated.
In his time at Manchester United, Eriksen has scored seven goals and assisted sixteen. His most productive campaign came in the 2022-2023 season when he assisted eight times in the Premier League.
Should an offer arise in January, United could sell Eriksen for a minimal fee. This would help with Financial Fair Play rules, especially considering that he arrived on a free transfer.
Eriksen’s exit will pave the way for United to bring in a younger midfielder, such as Martin Baturina, or develop internal academy players, such as Sekou Kone. Either way, Manchester United will look to become quicker and more physical in the midfield.
