Paraguayan wonderkid Diego León will join Manchester United next July. According to Fabrizio Romano, United has reached an agreement with Cerro Porteño for a deal worth up to $8.5 million.

Romano posted the update on X saying: “Manchester United reach verbal agreement to sign 17-year-old Paraguayan left-back Diego León from Cerro Porteno, here we go! 🔴

“Initial fee will be $4m plus $1m easy add-ons and over $3.5m based on player’s/team future performances.

“Diego León will arrive in July 2025.”

Romano also added that United are planning a trip for León to visit Carrington ahead of his move to make the transition easier next summer.

In Diego León, Manchester United will be getting one of the best young left-backs in the world. Wing-back is a critical position in Ruben Amorim’s setup, and the 17-year-old could be a fantastic long-term option.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have been completely unreliable, forcing Manchester United to shop them while looking for other options. Alphonso Davies, Milos Kerkez, and others remain on United’s radar, as a first-team left-back with experience is still needed.

Diego León is a quality signing for the future, and fans will await his arrival with excitement next summer.
