Manchester United Sporting Director Dan Ashworth has left the club today in a shocking development. Rifts between the 53-year-old and Sir Jim Ratcliffe had long been documented, as the new part owner was reportedly infuriated with the decision to stick by Erik Ten Hag for so long.
The club’s statement read: “Dan Ashworth will be leaving his role as Sporting Director of Manchester United by mutual agreement.
We would like to thank Dan for his work and support during a transitional period for the club and wish him well for the future.”
For the short term, Technical Director Jason Wilcox will step up to work with CEO Omar Berrada. Long-term discussions will be around whether the club replaces Ashworth or restructures the current setup, shifting responsibilities within the leadership team.
