Manchester United fans will have to wait to see Ruben Amorim on the touchline. According to ESPN, the Portuguese manager must complete a notice period, keeping him at Sporting until the November international break.
During the notice period, Ruud Van Nistelrooy will remain in charge at Old Trafford. Manchester United will face Chelsea, PAOK, and Leicester City again with Van Nistelrooy in charge. The Reds beat Leicester City 5-2 in the former striker’s first match in the Carabao Cup.
Erik Ten Hag was dismissed on October 28, and Manchester United officials have acted swiftly to hire Amorim as the new manager. By bringing him in this month, the 39-year-old has the opportunity to evaluate the current squad and start developing tactics, rather than the team enduring a lengthy period with an interim manager in charge.
Amorim will manage United for the first time against Ipswich Town on November 24. Kieran McKenna’s side currently sit 18th in the league.
