Ruben Amorim is set to become the next Manchester United manager, according to Fabrizio Romano. Manchester United officials have been working to swiftly appoint the Portuguese manager and will trigger the 39-year-old’s €10 million release clause.

Romano’s statement said: “Manchester United are set to pay €10m exit clause for Rúben Amorim to become new manager, here we go!”

“Sporting confirm formal communication received from MUFC for Amorim to be appointed.”

“Amorim has already said yes to Man Utd proposal and project.”

United are attempting to get the details settled in time for Amorim to take charge against Chelsea at the weekend. Ruud Van Nistelrooy will manage against Leicester City on Wednesday.

Amorim has two Portuguese titles since arriving at Sporting but will now be tasked with doing the same with Manchester United in the Premier League.

There is a long road back to the top for the Red Devils. Can Ruben Amorim help the club reach those heights again?
