Manchester United found a great one in Chido Obi-Martin. Fourteen minutes into his debut for the U18s, the Denmark U17 international had already scored three times, giving United a 3-0 lead.

Obi-Martin officially joined Manchester United in September, though he had already agreed to the move at the end of July.

The 16-year-old needed just thirteen seconds to score his first of the day and had another two within the next twelve minutes. James Scanlon, already a full Gibraltar international, scored the fourth first-half goal.

Chido Obi-Martin’s move this summer was another massive win for the Manchester United academy. Sekou Kone also joined, spurning moves to other top European clubs. Despite the turmoil in the first team, Carrington continues to thrive.

Quick development for the young Dane could benefit his fellow countryman Rasmus Hojlund. A Danish connection in the front line could create a familiarity that would only be advantageous for United.

While anticipation is rising, Chido Obi-Martin still needs time to grow and should not be rushed into Erik Ten Hag’s team this season. However, a quick move to the U21 side may be in the cards if he continues to dominate the U18 level.
