Manchester United right back Noussair Mazraoui has withdrawn from his country’s AFCON Qualifiers due to injury. The 26-year-old was replaced by Victor Lindelof against Aston Villa at half-time.

Mazraoui will miss two matches against the Central African Republic during this international break. The Atlas Lions are currently at the top of their group after victories over Gabon and Lesotho.

Ever since Noussair Mazraoui moved to Old Trafford in the summer, he has been performing exceptionally well for Manchester United. Due to the unavailability of a natural left back, Diogo Dalot has been playing on the left, which has given Mazraoui plenty of opportunities to play on the right. In the Premier League, he has managed to secure one assist in seven matches.

Erik Ten Hag has not disclosed the nature of the Moroccan’s injury, but it is bad enough that he has been forced to stay behind during a critical time for his national team. Depending on the severity of the injury, he could miss matches after the window, including Brentford and Fenerbahçe.

A potential loss of Mazraoui could be offset if Luke Shaw returns after the break. Manchester United has confirmed that the English left back is getting ready for his season debut, possibly as early as the match against Brentford.
