Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is interested in Manchester United winger Antony. The 46-year-old wants an exciting winger, and the former Ajax star could look to revive his career away from Old Trafford.
According to CaughtOffside, Howe wants Antony if Newcastle’s pursuit of former Red Anthony Elanga proves fruitless.
Manchester United paid £86 million to bring Antony to Manchester United after a push from Erik Ten Hag. Unfortunately, the Brazilian has failed to come close to justifying his price tag, as he has just eleven goals and five assists in two seasons.
So far this season, the 24-year-old has played just a single minute in the Premier League. The emergences of Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo have moved Antony down the pecking order at United. This led to rumors of a late loan move to Turkiye, but United officials elected to keep him for the time being.
Newcastle United could now move for Antony in the January 2025 transfer window. Manchester United hopes to recoup at least £40 million for Antony, under half of what was paid to Ajax in 2022.
Unless Antony drastically improves this fall, his only chance to revive his career will likely be away from Old Trafford.
