Personal terms for Manuel Ugarte have been agreed for weeks now, but a transfer fee has yet to be finalized. Manchester United want PSG to lower the price tag, but the Parisien club has been stubborn in their asking price. According to reports, Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has flown to the UK to push the transfer through.
In the background of negotiations for Ugarte, United has been looking at alternative options. Sander Berge, Frenkie De Jong, and Youssouf Fofana have all been linked to Old Trafford. However, according to a new report from GIVEMESPORT, the Red Devils are also considering a move for Nottingham Forest’s Danilo.
Danilo has been at the Forest since January of 2023. The 23-year-old Palmeiras product has five goals and four assists in his 42 Premier League appearances. With his experience in the league already, Danilo could be a solid option to pair with Kobbie Mainoo. He is a physical defensive midfielder who has the ability to attack when the moment presents itself.
Last season, Danilo was in the 95th percentile of all midfielders in Europe’s Top 5 leagues in interceptions. He also averaged 3.5 tackles and interceptions per game and 2.14 clearances per game. A major stat that sticks out is his zero errors last season, something United needs as errors have haunted the Reds. Read more about Danilo’s abilities on fbref.com.
If Manchester United fail to sign Manuel Ugarte, Danilo would be a solid secondary option for the club.
