The Liverpool crowd roared once again as their star man Mohamed Salah bolted towards Harry Amass. Just as it looked like Salah would break through on goal, he was stopped by a perfectly timed tackle from the 17-year-old left-back. That was a recurring positive during an otherwise difficult night for the Manchester Reds. Harry Amass is ready for first-team action.

In June 2023, Manchester United won the race to sign 16-year-old Harry Amass from Watford. The English starlet came highly rated and was being pursued by other Premier League clubs. Just like many players over the years, Amass chose Carrington as his step to a first-team career. If this pre-season is any indication, he chose correctly.

During United’s injury crisis last season, many fans called for Harry Amass to make his debut to provide Ten Hag’s side with a left-footed left-back. While he may not have been ready then, the young outside back has shown his defensive acumen and his attacking abilities this pre-season and should be considered for an early start.

Manchester United have Luke Shaw available after his return during the Euros. While Shaw is a brilliant player, his woeful injury history deems him unreliable. The other left-back option for United is Tyrell Malacia, who has not played in over a year and is not available until October. If United officials prioritize other positions ahead of the transfer window closing, the door could be left open for Amass.

Harry Amass is ready for a competitive first-team debut. Just ask Mo Salah.
