After limping off with an injury against Arsenal, Leny Yoro’s injury has been confirmed and is as severe as previously feared. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old center-back is projected to miss the first three months of the season. This would leave him fit to return sometime in late October.
Previously, Ten Hag had refused to provide many details, leaving room for concern to grow. In an interview with MUTV, he said, “It is too short [notice] we have to wait over 24 hours and then we know hopefully more.”
The location of the injury is also a concern. Yoro reportedly has hurt his metatarsal, which is the same area that has bothered Lisandro Martinez.
Manchester United are fresh off an injury-riddled season that nearly derailed Ten Hag’s time at the club. Despite the injury negatives, the Reds finished the season with an FA Cup trophy and hope for an improvement this season under new leadership.
The signing of Leny Yoro has been seen as somewhat of a coup, as United beat out Real Madrid for the young defender’s signature. He is seen as a future star, and United will want him back as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait to see Leny Yoro suit up for a competitive match in Red.
