Manchester United has added 20-year-old Antonio Silva to the center-back shortlist. Despite already signing Leny Yoro, the club wants one more to continue the backline revamp.

At 20, Silva comes with plenty of first-team experience. He has played 30 Liga Portugal matches in each of the past two seasons and has already played in 14 Champions League games. The 6’1 defender also has a knack for scoring goals, as he has seven career goals.

In the January window, Chelsea saw a €60 million bid rejected. Despite this, Manchester United officials believe they can seal a €50 million move for Silva this summer, according to O Jogo. If United pulls that off, it would be quite a feat.

Elsewhere, all parties have become agitated in the Matthijs De Ligt negotiations. Manchester United has seen multiple bids rejected, and De Ligt is bothered by both the rejected bids and United’s attempt to sign Noussair Mazraoui. This, as well as the lengthening Jarrad Branthwaite saga, has turned United’s attention elsewhere in case both moves fall through.

The signing of Antonio Silva would give the Reds another long-term center-back. Leny Yoro, 18, has already impressed in brief preseason minutes and is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the world. Silva would be a great addition to a revamped backline.
