Manchester United’s £42 million bid for Leny Yoro has been accepted by Lille. However, personal terms are likely to be tricky, as the 18-year-old defender is more interested in a move to Real Madrid. Reports suggest that he is willing to wait for Los Blancos in hopes that they will push a transfer through.

Leny Yoro is an exceptional young talent. He debuted at age 16 for Lille and already has 60 first-team appearances for the club. He established himself as a starter this past season when he made 32 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring twice out of the back.

At 6’3, Yoro has a great physique and is extremely quick, making him a perfect center-back for the modern game. His composure on the ball makes him an asset for a team that builds out of the back, much like what Erik Ten Hag wants from his United team. As a right-footed defender, he would be a fantastic long-term option to play alongside Lisandro Martinez.

Manchester United are also working on deals with Matthijs De Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite, though only two center-backs will arrive at Old Trafford this summer. Manchester United’s recent bid for Branthwaite was rejected, while De Ligt has agreed to personal terms ahead of an official proposal from United.
