Manchester United have made an improved bid for young Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite. United are interested in bringing in Branthwaite alongside Matthijs De Ligt, who also seems likely to arrive at Old Trafford this summer.
The new bid for the 22-year-old center-back totals £50 million, approximately £15 million more than the previous bid. Despite the improvement, Everton is expected to reject it, as it still does not meet their valuation.
Branthwaite has become a main target for Manchester United this summer after an impressive start to his Premier League career. The young defender made 35 starts for Everton last season and even managed three goals, putting his 6’4 frame to good use.
Before his first full season with the Everton first-team, Branthwaite made 32 starts while on loan at PSV. If he makes the move to United, it would be three teams in three seasons. While normally this may form related, in this case, it shows a meteoric rise to the top for the young star.
If Manchester United signs both Matthijs De Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, who should start on the opening day of the season next to Lisandro Martinez?
