Dan Ashworth and Manchester United are now closing in on the first signing of the INEOS era. According to Sky Sports, Joshua Zirkzee has agreed personal terms with the Reds.

Manchester United have been working with Bologna to bring the 23-year-old striker to Old Trafford as a second striker behind Rasmus Hojlund. Now that personal terms are agreed, United will decide whether to pay the £34m release clause or try to negotiate different terms. According to David Ornstein, United may look to use deferred payments or installments.

The deferred payments or installments may help the club secure other transfers this summer, as the funds won’t be needed upfront. Manchester United desperately needs change, and at least one center midfielder, center-back, and left-back are needed. The Reds could also look into the possibility of signing another winger and goalkeeper if the money is available.

Would an alternative way of paying for Zirkzee be a smart move from Manchester United?
