Manchester United has agreed to sell Donny Van De Beek to Girona for an initial fee of just €500,000. This is a €37.5m loss on what was paid for Van De Beek in 2020.

The 27-year-old arrived in Manchester with high hopes after a fantastic spell at Ajax. In the three seasons before his move to Old Trafford, he scored 28 goals and assisted another 21.

In his four years in Manchester, the Dutch midfielder played just 62 times. Sadly, he scored as many goals as times he was loaned out. Van De Beek spent time at both Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt, but neither loan spell was successful. Now Girona, who are in the Champions League next season, will take a chance on the out-of-favor player.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes up to €5m in add-ons and a sell-on clause. This could see United earn more if Donny Van De Beek returns to form and plays important minutes for the Spanish side.

After a promising start to his career, it has been a rough few years for Donny, and we hope that he returns to form. Good luck!
