Manchester United have been handed boosts on multiple fronts in the pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee. The United target has a £34million release clause that is now active. Bologna sporting director Giovanni Sartori all but confirmed his striker’s exit when discussing him and potential replacements.

“For Zirkzee there is a clause, and I believe that he will ninety-nine-point nine percent leave this summer. Knowing the market, there is a big chance he will go. He is a great player and strikers are always highly sought after. We have been working on a replacement for months, we have looked a lot. We will work on it, it will not be easy to replace him, we will try to be ready ourselves.

A second boost comes from a GIVEMESPORT report that states that Manchester United are ‘in advanced talks’ with Zirkzee’s team over his contract. Considering the relatively low release clause, the discussions with the player were always going to be the hurdle in this transfer. Now, it seems that United are nearing a conclusion to those discussions.

The 23-year-old striker helped Bologna secure Champions League qualification with his 11 Serie A goals last season. A once high-profile youngster at Bayern Munich, Zirkzee fell off the radar before bursting back onto the scene this past season.

AC Milan has also been interested in Zirkzee, but the player is prioritizing a move to Manchester United.

Can Joshua Zirkzee become the first signing of the new era?
