With everything on the line today, Manchester United pulled off the upset of a lifetime to defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup Final. A 2-1 victory not only gave United a major trophy but also sealed a Europa League place for next season.

A critical error from Stefan Ortega and Josko Gvardiol presented a persistent Alejandro Garnacho with a goal in the 30th minute. Nine minutes later, a beautiful sweeping move was finished off by Kobbie Mainoo to put the Reds up two. This advantage was enough to hold off the Premier League Champions, as the final whistle blew at 2-1.

Erik Ten Hag has a lot to be proud of today. Manchester United showed fight and were deserved winners in the end. His tactics worked, and City failed to create many quality chances. If he is gone before next season, Erik Ten Hag will have gone out on an extremely high note and deserves his plaudits for today’s match.

Teenagers Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were brilliant. Each one scored and showed why the future at Manchester United is bright. The battle was won on pure passion, and these two youngsters led the way.

Lisandro Martinez made a huge difference in the back, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka covered the wide space well. Raphael Varane and Diogo Dalot were quality, and Varane leaves United on a high note.

Sofyan Amrabat returned to his World Cup form and was excellent in the midfield. Likewise, Scott McTominay’s performance was admirable.

From the top down, Manchester United can be proud of this incredible achievement to end a tumultuous 2023-2024 season. Both the men’s and women’s sides found FA Cup success, and both sides will be looking to build off their wins to start next season.

Glory, Glory, Man United!
