Fan Highlights is a way for United Beyond Manchester to highlight the great fans of our beloved club. Every supporter is important, and we want to allow each one to have a voice and share their special moments as a fan. All we do is ask the questions, and the highlighted fans share answers in their own words.

This week’s Fan Highlight is Harry (@VivaLaMartial on Twitter). Harry is from the UK and is a legacy Manchester United fan. Read about his experiences and more below!

Questions:

How did you become a Manchester United fan?

“My family has supported the club for over 50 years, so I grew up watching them and naturally became more passionate myself. Now, I have that passion for the team. When we lose, it physically hurts, but winning is unlike any other feeling.”

What is your earliest Manchester United memory?

“My earliest United memory was Ronaldo scoring THAT goal against Porto in the Champions League (the days of “PlayStation 2” on the pitch advertisements!!)”

What is your favorite Manchester United memory, and why?

“My favorite Manchester United memory was the game against Coventry. The scoreline and performance (after 70 minutes) weren’t great, but the atmosphere, ending, and the people I went with made it an amazing experience. Being there with the fans singing songs was something I will never forget.”

Who is your favorite current Manchester United player, and why?

“Honestly, Tony Martial. I just think when he’s on his A-game, he’s such a great asset and player to have. He’s a clever finisher, too. In terms of active players right now, though, I really like Dalot. He’s passionate, determined, and always gives his all. I can see him maybe being captain one day.”

If you could bring one former player to the current team, who would it be and why?

“Nemanja Vidic. He and Licha at the back would make me feel comfortable when we’re winning games. Right now, I feel unsure even at 3-0 up because of the current injury issues we have.”

If you could sign one player for the club this summer, who would it be and why?

“I would sign Jean-Clair Tobido (or Leny Yoro). I’d love Olise, but we desperately need defenders and cover. The main issue we have had this season is squad depth when key players are injured. Tobido is a great option and is available for a cheaper price. I would love Olise or Toney, though. Both are Premier League-proven and players I could see playing for us.”

Where is your favorite place to watch matches? Who do you enjoy watching matches with the most?

“In person with my family! There is nothing like being at Old Trafford soaking up the atmosphere.”

What else would you like fans to know about you or your love for the club?

“I think we, as fans, should be more patient. Erik Ten Hag has shown what he can do with players available last season, and I’m really excited to see how much of an impact all of the behind-the-scenes changes have ahead of next season. I hope to be at the FA Cup Final cheering on the lads!”
