Fan Highlights is a way for United Beyond Manchester to highlight the great fans of our beloved club. Every supporter is important, and we want to allow each one to have a voice, and share their special moments as a fan. All we do is ask the questions and the highlighted fan shares answers in their own words.

Our next Fan Highlights is Victor Tsobaza Animoku from Nigeria! You can find him at ATsobaza on Twitter and check out his YouTube channel here! Read below to get to know Victor and his experiences as a United fan!

Questions:

Q. How did you become a Manchester United fan?

I became a Manchester United fan when I watched a United game in 1999 on TV with my uncle at a neighbour’s house. I believe it was against Nottingham Forest. We won 3-0. Johnson scored two goals and Giggs the 3rd. I think it was David Beckham who provided all of the assists.

Q. What is your earliest Manchester United memory?

My earliest memory was when I was gifted a United Jersey with the Sharp Logo on the front, and the Number 7 on the back. Receiving that jersey gave me an interest in playing football and watching United play on TV. After that, I began to watch most United games at a friend’s house.

Q. What is your favorite Manchester United memory and why?

My favorite Manchester United memory was when we won the 20th league title. I wanted this badly because we got Robin Van Persie, and I loved how he and Wayne Rooney combined to play. Also, Sir Alex Ferguson was a manager I respected, and I wanted him to win the 20th top-flight trophy.

Q. Who is your favorite current Manchester United player and why?

Christian Eriksen is my current favourite player, as I love his style of play and his composure on the ball. He is also very technical, but sadly, we didn’t get him in his prime, and now he doesn’t play much due to his health issues. However, I am glad he got another opportunity to play football again after the incident.

Q. If you could bring one former player to the current team, who would it be and why?

I would bring Wayne Rooney back. He embodies Manchester United and the mindset of never giving up till the final whistle blows. He has a fighting spirit and leadership qualities and knows what it means to play for the badge. I think he is a multi-dimensional and complete player. The players would look up to him a lot, and he would be a leader in the dressing room.

Q. If you could sign one player for the club this summer, who would it be and why?

Jean-Clair Todibo would be the player I would sign. We badly need reinforcements in the back, with Lisandro Martinez, Rapha Varane, and Victor Lindelof all injured. Then, there is the possibility of Varane and others leaving. With this in mind, I will want Todibo. His price tag is not too high, and he is on the younger side. Also, that department needs competition because if there is some competition, players are more likely to compete and give their best at all times. He is solid on the ball and aggressive in his play. He would complement Licha very well.

Q. Where is your favorite place to watch matches? Who do you enjoy watching matches with the most?

For now, my favorite place to watch is at home because I love to concentrate and read the games. I am also noisy when the game is not going well, so I can talk to the TV when home. In my head, I like to imagine making the subs when the game is not going well or shouting at the coach and players.

Q. What else would you like fans to know about you or your love for the club?

I live, walk, and breathe Manchester United. I love the club and would not support any other club if I were not a United fan. That is why, like many, I am unhappy with our current state. This passion made me start a YouTube channel so I can express myself and read what others have to say. I hope to visit Old Trafford one day and feel the atmosphere during one of our matches.
