After months of speculation and transfer rumors, Manchester United’s search for a new striker is coming to an end. The club has landed on Benjamin Sesko and the Slovenian striker is ready to join the club.
Sesko has reached a contract agreement to move to Old Trafford, and negotiations between United and RB Leipzig are ongoing.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed Sesko’s deal on X.
🚨💣Benjamin Sesko has reached total agreement with Manchester United on personal terms. Contract until June 2030.
Sesko wants to join United, clear feeling revealed yesterday here. Never gave similar indication to other clubs.
🔛Club to club talks with RB Leipzig continue.
Romano’s report confirms that, despite Newcastle United’s attempt to sway the young striker and their official bid, he only wanted to join the Reds.
Sesko, 22, who scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season, will become United’s no. 9 and completes Ruben Amorim’s new frontline. Manchester United have already spent upwards of £140 million on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who debuted during the U.S. Tour.
Rasmus Hojlund has accepted that a departure from the club is likely, as Joshua Zirkzee is the manager’s preferred backup striker. The Dane was initially optimistic, saying he wanted to fight for a place in the team, but the signing of Sesko complicates that.
Should the transfer be completed quickly, Sesko could be ready to debut against Arsenal on August 17.
