Starting Eleven

Andre Onana: 5 – Onana wasn’t forced into action often, as Bilbao either missed or Leny Yoro blocked the shot. Could he have done more on Jauregizar’s long-range goal?

Victor Lindelof: 5 – Lindelof was not at the same level as he was in last week’s win, but eventually settled into the match. The early mistakes helped Bilbao’s first-half push, and the Swede should not start the final unless absolutely necessary.

Harry Maguire: 5 – Maguire’s poor clearance led to the attack in which Bilbao scored their goal. The error should be a blip for the defender, as he has been strong in the past few weeks.

Leny Yoro: 9 – Yoro was flawless in defense for United, blocking everything Bilbao tried and winning nearly every duel and tackle he attempted. In the second half, the young defender began taking risks by stepping into the attack and was rewarded with an assist to Mason Mount.

Noussair Mazraoui: 6 – Mazraoui played well on the right, clearing four times and winning all of his aerial duels. Amorim took no chances with the Moroccan on a yellow card and removed him early in the second half.

Casemiro: 7 – Casemiro has won everything there is to win at club level, but he is playing like he is fighting for his first-ever trophy. The Brazilian is giving everything for Amorim in the Europa League and added another goal late.

Manuel Ugarte: 4 – Ugarte’s defensive performance was respectable with three clearances and a tackle, but he was poor in possession. His inability to move the ball against the Bilbao press led to his 67% passing accuracy and an early removal from the match.

Patrick Dorgu: 7 – Dorgu was effective off the left and was a danger to Bilbao’s back line all evening. Defensively, he was solid, with seven clearances and four tackles. He should have also registered an assist to Garnacho, but the Argentine failed to score his attempted chip.

Bruno Fernandes: 7 – Fernandes added another goal involvement in the Europa League with an assist to Casemiro, taking his tally up to 11. He ran the show for United in attack, albeit less effectively than usual, and defended well when needed. The club captain will lead his side in a third final in three seasons.

Alejandro Garnacho: 4 – Garnacho was dangerous in the first half, but he failed to finish a one-on-one chance late in the first half that would have effectively ended the tie.

Rasmus Hojlund: 5 – Hojlund scored, but he left a lot to be desired in the 84 minutes leading up to it. The Dane’s tap-in was his only shot of the match, and he was never a threat in United’s attacks.

Substitutes

Luke Shaw: 6 – Shaw put in his best performance since returning from injury and looked more comfortable in the left wing back role.

Mason Mount: 9 – For the first time in a United shirt, Mason Mount looked like the player who helped Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021. He was quick, smart on the ball, and his first goal was technically brilliant. Then, he audaciously added a second and made Bilbao pay for a poor clearance. If Mount can retain this kind of form, he may be the key to a Europa League triumph for Ruben Amorim.

Amad Diallo: 7 – Diallo came on and showed off his technical abilities. He wove through the Bilbao defense several times and assisted Hojlund after some good work on the ball near the end line. With Garnacho inconsistent, which player will Amprim rely on down the stretch?

Harry Amass: NR – Amass continues to receive more opportunities than the other academy lads. Will he play a larger role next season?

Kobbie Mainoo: NR – Mainoo has been solid when coming off the bench recently, but the manager must decide which position works best for him in this system.

Man of the Match: Mason Mount
