Before all eyes turn to Manchester United’s critical first leg in Bilbao on Thursday, the Reds will visit Bournemouth and transfer target Antoine Semenyo. Who is available and who will Ruben Amorim start against the Cherries?
Team News
With four days between the upcoming match against Bournemouth and the trip to Athletic Bilbao, Ruben Amorim can start key players on Sunday while managing their minutes and keeping them match-fit.
Patrick Dorgu started last week and will likely be called upon again, with Diogo Dalot picking up a fresh calf injury this week. Harry Amass will feature on the left again with Dorgu on the right.
Tyler Fredricson debuted and starred in the loss to Wolves last weekend. The 20-year-old defender is a clear candidate to start if Amorim wants to rest a center-back on Sunday. Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro should return to their spots in the starting eleven.
Jonny Evans returned to the bench last match and could see his first minutes since Boxing Day if called upon from the opening whistle or off the bench.
Bruno Fernandes failed to start a match for the Reds when available for the first time since 2022 when he was left on the bench until the second half at Old Trafford on Sunday. The club captain should return to his spot in the midfield alongside Manuel Ugarte against Bournemouth.
Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rasmus Hojlund could feature up front for the second consecutive game, with Hojlund desperately needing a goal before the Europa League Semi-Finals.
Matthijs De Ligt and Amad Diallo are working their way back from injury to come back into the fold for the final month of the season, though neither will play against Bournemouth.
Lisandro Martinez, Toby Collyer, and Amad Diallo remain out.
