United Beyond Manchester

Joshua Zirkzee scored his first Europa League goal of the season as Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw in San Sebastian.

Starting Eleven

Andre Onana: 7 – After a string of poor performances, Onana stepped up when United needed him to. He made several crucial stops to keep the tie level heading home next week.

Noussair Mazraoui: 6 – Mazraoui stepped into the back three with Harry Maguire out and performed well, clearing five times and completing three tackles.

Matthijs De Ligt: 7 – De Ligt needed to step up in the middle with Maguire out, and he did. Perhaps his best moment came when he slipped inside the box but still managed to clear before the ball found a Sociedad player late on.

Leny Yoro: 7 – Yoro continues to improve as he gains experience. The 19-year-old used his pace and strength well, clearing five times and winning three of four duels. In possession, he only lost the ball four times.

Diogo Dalot: 6 – Dalot was excellent pushing forward and stretched the Sociedad back line from his wing-back position. He could have performed better on the ball, but overall, he continued his recent positive form.

Bruno Fernandes: 6 – Fernandes was influential in possession and could have registered an assist on multiple occasions. Only he knows what he was thinking on the handball…

Casemiro: 7 – Casemiro put in a shift in the midfield, admirably replacing Manuel Ugarte, who was out.

Patrick Dorgu: 5 – Dorgu must improve in possession after losing the ball 19 times, but his pace and power caused Sociedad issues down the wing.

Joshua Zirkzee: 8 – Zirkzee took his goal well and was a threat all match with three total shots. He also helped defensively with two tackles, two clearances, two interceptions, and a blocked shot.

Alejandro Garnacho: 6 – Garnacho found Zirkzee brilliantly with the ball to the top of the box for a deserved assist. He still needs to improve his finishing, as his early chance failed to challenge Alex Remiro.

Rasmus Hojlund: 5 – Hojlund’s performance was an improvement over his recent matches, especially in possession. He made several good runs to get in behind but still failed to get a shot off.

Substitutes

Christian Eriksen: NR – With Casemiro playing today, Eriksen could be in line to start Sunday if Manuel Ugarte remains out.
