Manchester United’s interest in Martin Zubimendi is heating up ahead of the summer transfer window.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are expected to leave Old Trafford, with the latter already confirmed to depart. While both players still have quality, neither fit Ruben Amorim’s system, where midfield players need more energy to get up and down the pitch.
One player who fits Amorim’s profile is Martin Zubimendi, who, according to GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are ready to move for this summer.
Zubimendi has been on the radar of Premier League clubs for a while, including Arsenal and Liverpool. The 26-year-old has been a standout at Real Sociedad and for the Spain national team over the past few years.
A move for Zubimendi would be ambitious for United, especially if the club fails to win a trophy this season and misses out on European competition altogether. The midfielder is becoming one of the best in the world and would likely need convincing to join Amorim’s project.
While Zubimendi may be a long shot, he would provide a fantastic option for United, considering his release clause. The Spain international will be available for £51 million, making him an excellent buy for a club financially struggling.
Manchester United will get an up-close look at the Spaniard in the Europa League Round of 16, with United traveling to San Sebastian for the first leg on Thursday.
