Manchester United will travel to London to face Tottenham on Sunday. A match that usually has European implications will be important for different reasons this time, as both teams look to get back on track and save their season.
Team News
In his pre-match press conference, Ruben Amorim discussed how his team has progressed towards the match on Sunday.
“It has been a good week. Until two days ago, [when] we had some problems. Also as we don’t have players back.
“Maybe we will have one or two issues, but we are waiting. We have one player who is sick, so we will see the team on the weekend. But it was good to work with the team and to try to help the players in our performances.”
Amorim refused to name those who could be doubts for the weekend, saying, “No, no, we will see at the weekend.”
When asked about academy players training with the first team, the Portuguese manager said, “I don’t want to say names,” he replied. “We have to be careful on that. We have problems this week, we called some young players to be in our training. We have some data evaluation. [Chido] is one of them.”
While Amorim did not confirm additional players who may be out, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, and Lisandro Martinez will remain out.
Martinez will miss between six months and a year after undergoing a successful surgery to repair his torn ACL. No return date has been given for Mount, Shaw, and Evans.
Ayden Heaven was on the bench for the first time as a United player against Leicester City in the FA Cup, while Patrick Dorgu started and played 45 minutes in the win. Both new signings could start at the London Stadium.
Fresh off receiving his Puskas Award, Alejandro Garnacho should start with Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee in attack.
