Starting Eleven

Andre Onana: 4 – Onana’s -1.18 goals prevented metric is horrendous for a player that conceded twice. Better positional awareness on the first Palace goal could have prevented the follow-up.

Leny Yoro: 5 – Yoro was outjumped on Maxence Lacroix’s looping header that hit the crossbar and set up Mateta’s tap-in. On a positive note, the 19-year-old was fantastic again in possession and is calm under pressure at the back. With Lisandro Martinez injured, Yoro will need to step up and mature quickly to help salvage United’s season.

Harry Maguire: 4 – Maguire was slow to react to the rebound on Palace’s first goal and played Muñoz on for the second. It was a rough match for a player coming off a fantastic performance against Fulham.

Lisandro Martinez: 7 – Martinez was a standout performer in defense, recording three tackles, two clearances, and winning eight duels. Unfortunately, he suffered an awkward landing on his left knee, which required him to be stretchered off in tears, leaving the rest of his season uncertain. This injury is particularly unfortunate as Martinez was in top form, contributing both defensively and offensively in recent matches.

Noussair Mazraoui: 5 – Mazraoui was quiet defensively and in attack with a clearance, an interception, and a shot blocked. The wing-back dynamic is one to watch with Patrick Dorgu now in Manchester.

Manuel Ugarte: 6 – Ugarte was one of the better United performers as he broke up play well in the midfield. He had four tackles and an interception and nearly scored with a well-timed half-volley.

Bruno Fernandes: 5 – Fernandes was unable to have his usual effect on the match against a well-structured Crystal Palace backline. Of his fourteen crosses, only two found a United player, which epitomizes the type of afternoon that it was in attack for the Reds.

Diogo Dalot: 5 – Dalot was involved going forward but was never able to make it count. The addition of Dorgu means that the Portuguese defender will likely spend more time in his preferred right wing-back position going forward.

Amad Diallo: 6 – Amad was unable to make his usual contribution to the scoresheet but was the most involved player for United going forward. His six key passes were the most for the Reds, but he only got a single shot away.

Alejandro Garnacho: 4 – Garnacho had a great opportunity blocked five minutes into the match, but that was as exciting as his afternoon got.

Kobbie Mainoo: 6 – Mainoo played well in his first appearance as a false nine. He nearly found the net early on, but his shot deflected onto the post. The 19-year-old also created an opportunity for Alejandro Garnacho that was blocked.

Substitutes

Joshua Zirkzee: 4 – With United trailing and twenty minutes to go, Zirkzee, alongside Hojlund, was introduced. Instead of finding an equalizer and taking the game to Palace, the Dutch striker failed to register a shot.

Rasmus Hojlund: 5 – Hojlund barely touched the ball after coming on but did have a decent flicked header flash just wide of the post in stoppage time.

Matthijs De Ligt: NR – De Ligt came on in the final minutes due to the unfortunate injury to Lisandro Martinez. With United trailing, he was not heavily involved as the Reds pushed, looking to score.

Christian Eriksen: NR – Eriksen came on as a last attempt to provide a spark to the home side. Instead, Palace put the game away two minutes after his introduction.
