Amad Diallo is set to sign a new long-term contract with Manchester United this week, solidifying his role as a key player in Ruben Amorim’s project. According to ESPN, the 22-year-old has agreed to a deal that the club could announce as soon as Thursday.
Amad has become an integral part of the current Manchester United setup. Since Ruben Amorim took over, the Ivorian winger has thrived, scoring or assisting on eight goals in all competitions.
Under Amorim, Amad has also shown versatility, excelling as a right-wing-back and an attacking midfielder. The ability to play well in multiple spots has been crucial for the new manager as he searches for the best fit in each position.
Manchester United paid €21.3 million to Atalanta in 2021 to secure the services of Amad Diallo. Successful loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland prepared the young player for an integration into the first team for the 2023/2024 season.
After joining Erik Ten Hag’s side, Amad played sparingly, though he still produced moments of magic, including a last-minute winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup. Everything has changed for Ivorian this campaign, as he has become one of the first names on the team sheet each week.
With Amad Diallo’s contract situation now resolved, Manchester United’s next priority is to finalize a deal with Kobbie Mainoo. The 19-year-old midfielder is a key part of the club’s future, and securing contracts for both Amad and Mainoo would demonstrate the club’s ambition moving forward.
