Manchester United needs a left-footed left-wing-back for Ruben Amorim’s system. Throughout most of the season, Diogo Dalot has been playing on the left side, even after Tyrell Malacia’s return. With the January transfer window now open, Manchester United officials are monitoring several players for that position, including 20-year-old Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu has been impressive this season at Lecce in Serie A, scoring three goals. He also provides flexibility, as he has logged ten or more appearances as a right winger, left back, and left midfielder in his two professional seasons.
While Fabrizio Romano reports that Nuno Mendes and Milos Kerkez are higher on United’s list, Dorgu is seen as a more budget-friendly option. Given the club’s current financial constraints, pursuing the Danish international may be a more viable option, especially if other positions take priority.
Patrick Dorgu’s value is currently listed at €20 million on Transfermarkt. Lecce could cash in big on the 20-year-old after paying just €200k for him in 2023.
Tottenham and Napoli are also interested in Dorgu and could provide competition if Manchester United decide to pursue the talented young Dane.
