A controversial yet iconic career at Manchester United ends as Marcus Rashford departs the club. The former academy graduate has agreed to join Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season with a £40 million buy option included in the deal.

Fabrizio Romano’s announcement of the transfer on X read, “Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, here we go!

“Agreement in place on loan deal with over 70% salary covered by Villa.

“Buy option clause worth £40m also included in contract with potential three year and half deal to follow.”

By joining Villa, Rashford will have an opportunity to play Champions League football again, as the Villans are already in the Round of 16 of the competition. He also joins a team fighting for European places in the Premier League, as the club sits in 8th place with fourteen matches to go.

Marcus Rashford joined Manchester United in 2004 when he was just seven years old and progressed through the academy system.
