Sporting CP boasts a wealth of young talent that Manchester United may be able to leverage following the appointment of Ruben Amorim. One notable player is Ousmane Diomande, who reportedly prefers a reunion with Amorim rather than a move to the Etihad.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Manchester United is making early efforts to persuade Diomande to join his former manager, and the young defender is highly interested in the opportunity.
The 20-year-old is considered a top center-back prospect and is wanted by several top European clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal. Last season, Diomande was named the best defender in Liga Portugal, helping his team secure a league title.
On top of his notable club achievements, Diomande is already a full Ivory Coast international. He was involved in their 2024 Africa Cup title and has eight appearances across three competitions for his country.
Last summer, Manchester United signed Leny Yoro over top clubs such as Real Madrid. The addition of Ousmane Diomande would give United the top young center-back duo in the world, securing a bright future for the Amorim-led side.
Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Victor Lindelof could be moving away from Old Trafford in the next few transfer windows to make space for Amorim’s defensive targets.
