Ruben Amorim is winning hearts at Manchester United already after an impressive victory over rivals Manchester City in the Champions League. The 39-year-old’s team dismantled Pep Guardiola’s by a score of 4-1 in Portugal.
Potential United target Viktor Gyökeres scored three times, with the first goal coming from an assist by another United target, 17-year-old Geovany Quenda. For his second goal, the Swedish striker did what Erling Haaland couldn’t: score a penalty. He then hit another from the spot to complete the hat trick.
Amorim has the Lions unbeaten in their first four Champions League matches this season, including three wins over Lille, Sturm Graz, and City.
The future United head coach finished his time at Sporting and has set them up nicely for the remainder of the season. He finished with a ridiculous record in the league, as his side won all ten matches with a +32 goal differential.
Ruben Amorim and Pep Guardiola will face off again on December 15th, when Manchester United visits Manchester City in the Premier League.
