Brighton & Hove Albion will visit Old Trafford on Saturday looking to end Manchester United’s two-match Premier League win streak. It may not sound like much, but it is the first such “streak” since Ruben Amorim took over last year.
Below, we look at the team news and predicted lineup for the Portuguese manager’s side as the Reds look to beat the Seagulls for a third consecutive win.
Team News
Senne Lammens is United’s clear No.1 and is starting to look like an excellent signing. In his first two matches, he has one clean sheet and two wins, including one at Anfield. He has endeared himself to the fans and must be one of the first names on Amorim’s team sheet right now.
One of Amorim’s biggest decisions will be at the back, where he has options. Matthijs De Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw were excellent in the win over Liverpool, but Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, and Ayden Heaven are all available.
Lisandro Martinez will return to action in the next few weeks but will not be part of the squad against Brighton.
Amad Diallo has formed a dynamic partnership with Bryan Mbeumo on the right, and both players should start with Amad at wing-back and Mbeumo in attack.
Matheus Cunha has done very little in front of goal but has still starred when on the field. Patrick Dorgu could rotate in at left wing back for Diogo Dalot.
Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have created a solid partnership as the two central midfielders, though the latter’s consistent card issues could become an issue as the season progresses. Manuel Ugarte is an option should Amorim opt to rest Casemiro.
Benjamin Sesko has scored in his last two starts but was left on the bench in favor of Mason Mount at Anfield. He should return to the starting eleven against Brighton, as he looks to add a third goal in three starts.
Lineup Prediction
Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens
Defenders: Matthijs De Ligt, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
Midfielders: Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Patrick Dorgu
Attackers: Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko
