Starting Eleven
Senne Lammens: 7 – Two starts, two wins. Lammens gave Manchester United defenders confidence to play aggressively. He made five saves and two high claims, showing why he is now firmly Ruben Amorin’s No. 1.
Matthijs De Ligt: 6 – De Ligt was a surprise playing on the right side of the back three, but put in a strong performance against the speed of Liverpool’s attack.
Harry Maguire: 9 – Ruben Amorim trusted Harry Maguire in an important spot, and he delivered. Not only was he excellent defensively with eight clearances, a blocked shot, and five duels won, but he also scored the winner with a smart header across the goal in the 84th minute.
Luke Shaw: 6 – Shaw was solid defensively, making several important tackles and clearances. Lisandro Martinez returns soon, so Shaw’s extended run in the side will be in jeopardy.
Amad Diallo: 8 – Amad Diallo was the creative drive for Manchester United in the first half. His outside-of-the-foot pass to Mbeumo for the opener was perfectly weighted. He should have had a second assist to Bruno, but the captain struck the post.
Casemiro: 7 – Very little came from Liverpool through the middle, and most of that is thanks to Casemiro. The Brazilian won six duels and made two tackles before being subbed off after a yellow card.
Bruno Fernandes: 7 – Fernandes missed an opportunity to make it 2-0 in the 23rd minute, hitting the outside of the post, but made up for the miss later. With the pressure on United and time running low, he provided the assist to Harry Maguire for the winner in the 84th minute with a swinging volley into the box.
Diogo Dalot: 5 – Dalot struggled at times with his positioning, playing as an inverted wing back on the left. He was dribbled past once and had an error that led to a shot, while also not offering much going forward.
Bryan Mbeumo: 8 – Mbeumo kicked the match off with a brilliant run and finish with his weaker right foot 63 seconds into the game. He stayed influential, totaling two shots on target and a key pass, while being particularly good alongside Amad.
Matheus Cunha: 6 – Cunha gave United a different element with pace and flair. He completed both dribbles he attempted and switched play well when needed.
Mason Mount: 5 – Mount had a quieter day after scoring against Sunderland. Most of United’s attack came down the right, so he was less involved with just 19 touches in 61 minutes.
