A defeat at Brentford dropped Manchester United to 14th, and the road does not get any easier for Ruben Amorim’s men. On Saturday, the Reds will be visited by surging Sunderland, who sit 5th as a newly-promoted side after Matchday 6.

Something needs to change for Amorim and an easy first step is to switch goalkeepers. Senne Lammens has been impressive in training, and considering Altay Bayindir’s struggles, could get his first start against Sunderland.
Lisandro Martínez remains unavailable for Saturday but is edging closer to a return as he builds match fitness. The defensive trio of Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw looked disjointed in the defeat to Brentford, which could prompt Ruben Amorim to reshuffle his back line and include Leny Yoro.
Noussair Mazraoui is out until after the October international break due to an injury, though Amad Diallo will return after missing Brentford for bereavement. Casemiro will provide an additional option in the midfield next to Bruno Fernandes as he returns from suspension.
Though unlikely to feature at the weekend, Tyrell Malacia rejoined training this week.
Amorim has options in attack now that Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount are back. Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko are likely to get starts again as the summer signings work to build chemistry up front.
Predicted Lineup
Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens
Defenders: Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
Midfielders: Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Patrick Dorgu
Attackers: Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko
