Andre Onana has a new home away from Manchester.

According to talkSport, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has accepted a loan move to Trabzonspor in Turkey. United will not receive a loan fee, and no buy clause was included.

The clubs reached an initial agreement on the loan move as United sought a solution for their struggling goalkeeper. Onana gave his final approval once it was clear he had fallen to the third choice under Amorim.

The Turkish window remains open through September 12, so while United can no longer bring in new signings, players can leave. The club remains optimistic about finding a new club for Tyrell Malacia in Turkey or Saudi Arabia.

Analysis

This is the move every fan was hoping for. After a couple of seasons with far too many mistakes, Andre Onana will no longer be between the sticks for Manchester United.

His lone appearance this season was disastrous. A late reaction and a mistimed punch handed Grimsby Town two goals, and the League Two side completed a dramatic win by scoring 12 out of 13 penalties.

Although his defensive line was far from perfect, Onana never looked settled in goal for United. His errors were not only costly but at times amateurish. The move was necessary, both for United and for Onana’s confidence.

With Onana gone, new signing Senne Lammens is expected to take over as United’s No. 1, with Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as the second and third options.
