Manchester United have their next goalkeeper.
23-year-old Senne Lammens will join the Reds from Royal Antwerp to provide immediate competition for Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
After early season mistakes by Bayindir, and a miserable performance at Grimsby Town by Onana, a new goalkeeper was necessary. While Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emiliano Martinez were considered, United landed on the lesser-known Lammens.
As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the initial fee is €21 million, which does not include several possible add-ons.
🚨🔴 BREAKING: Manchester United agree €21m plus add-ons deal with Royal Antwerp for Senne Lammens, here we go!
Agreement in place for Belgian GK to join #MUFC immediately, deal set to be sealed after medical.
Deal also included add-ons, as @David_Ornstein reports.
Lammens brings aerial dominance, sharp shot-stopping, and penalty expertise, qualities that Manchester United’s current goalkeepers have often lacked. While he is yet to keep a clean sheet this season, the Belgian has made eleven saves, including one from a penalty.
Welcome to Manchester, Senne Lammens!
