Only three outfield players have been named to United’s bench in the Premier League and failed to make an appearance this season: Tyler Fredricson, Kobbie Mainoo, and Joshua Zirkzee. All three will be candidates to start against the League Two side, though Mainoo is the likeliest to feature in the eleven.

After a disappointing start, United are expected to rotate, giving key players a rest. Matthijs de Ligt, Diogo Dalot, and Luke Shaw will likely begin on the bench given their recent injury history. Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro may also be rested, with Bruno in particular needing a breather after a frustrating night at Fulham.

After two appearances off the bench, Benjamin Sesko should start. United have only scored once in the first two matches, and getting the new No. 9 off the mark is crucial at this stage of the season.

Youngsters Chido Obi and Jack Fletcher are contenders for a spot in the matchday squad. Bendito Mantato, Amir Ibragimov, and Ethan Ennis are other academy standouts to watch.

Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui are recovering from injury and will not be available.
