Andre Onana has been nothing short of inconsistent in his time at Manchester United. As soon as it looked like he was turning the corner with a quality performance, the Cameroonian international would hurt his team with a crucial mistake.

As such, Ruben Amorim is looking for a new goalkeeper this summer. Names such as Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen have been linked to United, while a former World Cup winner, Emi Martinez, is also in sight.

According to Bolavip, Martinez wants to move to Manchester United and “intends to continue competing at the highest level” in the Premier League.

At 32, the Aston Villa goalkeeper’s position as Argentina’s No. 1 is currently safe. However, a lot can happen in a year, especially to an aging player. With his sights set on retaining his spot for next year’s World Cup, Martinez needs Manchester United as much as United needs him.

Martinez signed a contract extension with Villa last fall, which could affect his transfer price should his team want to play hardball with other clubs. Transfermarkt lists his value at €20 million.

Galatasaray are also pursuing Martinez should a transfer to Old Trafford not materialize. The Turkish club can offer the star goalkeeper Champions League football, while the Reds will be participating solely in domestic competitions.

In his last match against Manchester United, Martinez was sent off for a foul on Rasmus Hojlund. The Reds went on to win the game 2-0.
