Manchester United’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Friday marks their second-to-last Premier League fixture of the season and the final game before the Europa League Final. With just five days between the two matches, Ruben Amorim faces key selection decisions as he looks to manage injury risks carefully.
Team News
Expect many of Manchester United’s stars to sit against Chelsea, especially Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Harry Maguire, and Patrick Dorgu. While United will want to make a good showing against a top team, the upcoming final is far more important.
With top players resting, several youngsters could get more chances, including recent regulars Tyler Fredricson, Harry Amass, and Chido Obi. Jaydan Kamason could make his Premier League debut as Diogo Dalot works to return from injury.
Defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, and Ayden Heaven are unavailable this weekend and could miss the Europa League Final on Wednesday. Yoro was the latest addition to the defensive injury list after hurting his foot in the loss to West Ham.
As mentioned above, Diogo Dalot is also out against Chelsea, but has a chance to play in Bilbao. Amorim confirmed this in his press conference, saying, “Dalot is trying really bad. I don’t want to risk Dalot because, when you start getting one injury, second injury [follows] and it’s a big thing. We cannot have these kinds of problems in our squad. So, we will see, but he’s working really hard to get in the final.”
Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez will not play again this season.
