United Beyond Manchester

Andre Onana will likely leave Manchester United this summer after struggling in key matches for the club. A shortlist is being compiled of players to replace the Cameroonian, with Vanja Milenković-Savić and Aaron Ramsdale recently added names.

Vanja Milinković-Savić

According to Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United have made an initial inquiry about signing Milinković-Savić, and value his recent performances and leadership.

The Serbian international is a towering presence at 6’8 and has had an exceptional season at Torino with ten clean sheets. In his past two seasons, the 28-year-old has kept 28 clean sheets in 70 appearances, conceding fewer times than games played with 68 goals against.

Milinković-Savić was signed by United in 2014, but was immediately loaned back to Vojvodina, and left the club before making an appearance.

Other clubs in Serie A are pursuing the experienced goalkeeper and could provide stiff competition in transfer negotiations. Milinković-Savić would be available for less than €20 million, which is around the amount that United is looking to receive for Andre Onana.

Aaron Ramsdale

According to the Mirror, Aaron Ramsdale is another goalkeeping option Manchester United will consider this summer. The 26-year-old will be available for around €15 million after Southampton’s relegation.

Once tipped to become Arsenal’s long-time goalkeeper, Ramsdale fell behind David Raya and was left with little choice but to move to the Saints for first-team football. Unfortunately, the transfer has not worked in his favor, and Southampton will be relegated after a pitiful showing in the Premier League.

While his club has struggled, Ramsdale still possesses qualities that will likely keep him in the top flight next season. He also remains an option for Thomas Tuchel and the England national team.

Dean Henderson was the last English goalkeeper to feature for the Reds. The last Englishman to be Manchester United’s number one was the late Les Sealey in the 1990/1991 English First Division.

West Ham United, among other Premier League clubs, are also interested in Ramsdale.

While United Milinković-Savić and Ramsdale are new additions to the goalkeeping shortlist, the club is continuing to keep tabs on other prospects, such as Espanyol’s Joan Garcia.
