Manchester United are more likely to offload Rasmus Hojlund than Joshua Zirkzee this summer.
Zirkzee has improved in recent weeks, while Hojlund’s development seems to be stagnating. This difference between the players has led to a belief that Zirkzee is likelier to remain at Old Trafford through the summer.
Juventus and Napoli are interested in signing the Hojlund this summer, according to Tuttomercatoweb. Both clubs still see him as a young project and believe he is better suited for Seria A.
Hojlund had a successful start to his senior career in Seria A with Atalanta. He scored 10 times in 34 appearances with La Dea in his lone season with the club, leading to his arrival at Old Trafford.
Last season the 22-year-old scored 16 times in all competitions, providing fans with hope that he could develop into a prolific forward. However, regression this season and a lack of ability in key areas have left fans and pundits frustrated. Now, he looks set to return to Italy after just two seasons in Manchester.
Manchester United reportedly want €60 million to allow Hojlund to leave, despite signing him for €72 million in 2023. Even the €60 million seems high though, and Manchester United may have to lower the asking price to sell.
With recent links to players like Antoine Semenyo, Federico Valverde, and Ademola Lookman, Manchester United needs to raise funds to revamp the squad. Hojlund could be one of the first to go to make that goal happen.
