Manchester United are preparing a significant bid to lure Federico Valverde to Manchester.
Ruben Amorim has set his sights on winning a Premier League title at Manchester United by 2028. While the goal seems aggressive, especially considering the club’s current form and place in the table, certain players could accelerate the United rebuild. One such player is Federico Valverde.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are preparing an ambitious €100 million bid for the 26-year-old star.
Valverde is one of the most versatile players in the world, as he can play center midfield, outside back, and right midfield/wing at a world-class level. This campaign is a good example of that, as he has at least three appearances in four different positions.
In 305 career games at Real Madrid, the Uruguayan has 59 goal involvements, with 29 goals and 30 assists. This season has been one of Valverde’s most productive, as he has seven goals and seven assists in all competitions. Los Blancos have won La Liga thrice and the Champions League twice since Valverde officially joined the first team.
Manchester United needs high-quality midfield options that can go box-to-box in Ruben Amorim’s system. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are set to leave in the summer and exit rumors have continued around Kobbie Mainoo through the second half of the season. Valverde would be a younger, faster player to replace the aging Casemiro and Eriksen and has more box-to-box qualities than Mainoo.
Convincing Valverde to join Amorim’s project may be the most challenging aspect of this deal. The 26-year-old’s current contract runs through 2029 and there are no rumblings that he is unhappy in Madrid. However, if a transfer is possible, Manchester United must pursue it.
Signing Federico Valverde may be ambitious, but he is the kind of player Manchester United needs if they are to meet Ruben Amorim’s goal of securing a Premier League title by 2028.
