Manchester United could pursue Ademola Lookman as a replacement for departing attackers this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, the 27-year-old is a Manchester United transfer target ahead of a crucial summer for Ruben Amorim. As expectations rise for the next campaign, the decisions made by the club and the Portuguese boss must be impactful from the start of the new season.

Ademola Lookman has had an outstanding season in Serie A, scoring thirteen goals and providing five assists in league matches. The Nigerian international was also a major contributor in the Champions League, netting five goals and registering two assists in seven appearances.

Injuries to Amad Diallo and Mason Mount, along with the loan departures of Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho, have severely limited Amorim’s options in attack. With Antony, Rashford, and Sancho all likely to secure permanent moves this summer, reinforcements are needed.

Lookman would likely cost United around €65 million, a hefty fee for a club short on cash. However, the permanent sales of the three on-loan attackers would assist in the pursuit of the Nigerian star.

Many other high-profile clubs are interested in Lookman, including Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Arsenal. The Gunners are also Manchester United’s main competitors for Viktor Gyökeres.

Lookman previously played in England for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, after coming through the ranks at Charlton. He burst into global recognition after arriving at Atalanta, where he has 72 goal involvements in 110 total appearances.

Ademola Lookman would provide creativity and dynamism in Ruben Amorim’s attack. However, like with Gyökeres, Champions League football could be a deciding factor in his summer transfer.
